Luc Caals Brings André Hazes back to life for one night only in Blankenberge

On August 13th, singer, comedian, and actor Luc Caals will pay tribute to the late André Hazes Sr. at the WP Theater (Het Witte Paard) in Blankenberge. During the show “Caals Sings Hazes”, Luc Caals, accompanied by six musicians and two backing vocalists, will perform the most iconic songs of the beloved king of Dutch folk music.

Caals explains: “The beautiful songs of Hazes have been part of my repertoire since the early days of my career, and his passing in 2004 deeply affected me. I felt it was important to keep his music alive, even after his death. That’s how Caals Sings Hazes came to be. The tribute turned out to be a great success, highlighted by a series of sold-out shows at the Lotto Arena. These days, I only occasionally step back into the shoes of my greatest idol—except for one special occasion: my annual birthday concert at Het Witte Paard in Blankenberge, which is always marked in bold in my calendar.”

The full-length show is built around the rich musical legacy of the beloved singer from Amsterdam, with major hits such as “Een Beetje Verliefd” (“A Little in Love”), “Bloed, Zweet en Tranen” (“Blood, Sweat and Tears”), “Zeg Maar Niks Meer”, “Het Laatste Rondje” (“The Last Round”), and “Zij Gelooft In Mij” (“She Believes in Me”). Hazes’ songs laugh, cry, roar, heal, and move. They are pure, unfiltered expressions of life in which everyone—from housewives to tough guys—can see themselves.

Luc Caals is thrilled to be celebrating his birthday with the audience at Het Witte Paard in Blankenberge:
“I love that venue and the energy in the room, the summer atmosphere, and the unrestrained crowd that sings along from start to finish. We fully immerse everyone in the world of André Hazes. It’s always a moving and unforgettable night.”
